Editorial policy and source review
Policy updated 27 October 2026. ReadyEssentials is responsible for the independent explanations, model and website content. We do not claim professional qualifications or government endorsement.
Primary sources and review dates
Our government-aligned checklist is based on the current Be Ready guidance and official printable checklist, checked on 27 October 2026, alongside the Cabinet Office announcement of 22 October. Dates describe what was checked, not a guarantee that guidance will remain unchanged. Scenario-specific safety advice needs its own authoritative source review.
Official recommendations and our additions
Each checklist item identifies whether it appears in current government guidance. The 3-litre drinking-water rate is explicitly sourced. Our category groupings, household-check tracking units, applicability, product-selection features and completion score are editorial decisions. A government-listed item is not an endorsement of a product, our quantities or a score.
The former Prepare guidance describes a 2.5–3 litre drinking-water range and a higher allowance including cooking and hygiene. The current Be Ready checklist explicitly uses 3 litres for drinking; that is our formula. Extra needs remain separate. We do not invent official food portions, clinical quantities, species water rates or battery lifetimes.
Human review and corrections
AI may assist drafting and research. Source claims must be checked against primary material, and the site owner must review content before public promotion. We do not invent expert sign-off or hands-on testing. Check sources when guidance changes and during regular reviews; record the source, claim, date and reasoning when a calculation changes. Plans carry their rule version so older exports remain distinguishable.
Commercial independence
Affiliate relationships must be disclosed beside live purchase links and in our affiliate policy. Product links remain pending until valid owner-supplied Special Links and selections exist. We do not fabricate prices, ratings, availability or tests. Printed and text plans contain no retailer recommendations.
Search quality and responsibility
We publish distinct, useful resources rather than a page for every keyword variant. Research observations and keyword hypotheses are not measured search volumes or guaranteed rankings. Every safety-critical change requires factual verification. Follow live official instructions during an emergency.
